Adoption Guidelines

Prior to considering the adoption of any dog or puppy, it is important to research the breed that you are favoring for your next family companion. We recommend doing your research with trusted websites such as www.pbrc.net in regards to Pit Bull type dogs and the United Kennel Club for information on APBTs as well as a variety of other breeds.

Please also take a moment to read over various Pit Bull myths that you may encouter as a breed owner. We think that this myth sheet covers incorrect stereotypes.

In considering a Pit Bull, any owner must be prepared for an active dog that typically is very athletic and thrives on routine, as well as companionship. Overall, Pit Bulls tend to be eager people pleasers and do not make good back yard dogs, guard dogs or pets for inactive individuals.

Keep in mind that though there are "breed normalcies", all dogs in general are individuals and the same personalities and characteristics may not apply to all dogs in the same breed group.
